It is four in the morning amidst the dark shadows of rustling trees, séance style candlelight, burning incense, 70’s porn tunes playing in the back ground, and the members of the Denver metal sensation; Peace, Love, and Destruction. This evening I was graced with the presence of the twins, Eric and Shane and their new bass player; Tammy, formerly of Eye of Dawn. Woody, from the drum section was unfortunately unaccounted for these particular evenings’ events.
It is a rare moment indeed to get this band together for a bull session off stage and outside of practice, but I am among the lucky few who have and actually lived to tell about it. Fresh out of their August 12th concert at the Ogden theatre, the band is just getting warmed up for what lies ahead! After the usual talk of roadies, body bags, assless chaps, liquid latex, and the domination of the entire world, we finally got down to business; or should that be the other way around…
With the help of Dan Buchley of Blue Line Studios, Peace Love and Destruction are set to release their fourth Album, Committed. “And after 13 years (of playing music); we are committed, and probably should be,” the group chants together in harmony. Soon to follow will be their fifth and sixth release, with talk of even a Greatest Hits release of all newly recorded versions of their best work. “It will be appropriately titled, Decade of Starvation.” Shane blurts with confident humility.
“After 13 years, the band is finally complete.” Front man, Eric Marlott boasts over their newly found bass player, Tammy. “Tammy is chasing the ugly off the stage… She is twice the man of our last bass player… and I consider myself lucky to have her behind me!”
“I always knew I was meant to do something bigger.” Tammy reminisces over her past musical experiences. “I was really intimidated for awhile, but they are always encouraging.”
With new member Tammy, darker lyrics, revamped merchandise (G-strings, shot glasses, bumper stickers, t-shirts, and tobacco pipes), and a soon to be updated website by David Barber (www.thepsychward.com); Peace, Love, and Destruction have several goals in mind for the upcoming year.
First on their list, are plans to ramp up their stage show, and focus on taking the band to the national level. Besides a slew of new albums already in the planning, the band is also in the process of looking for new management. “We want a world tour,” exclaims Eric. “We were born to be f***ing rock stars!”
Coming out of mostly National shows with Quiet Riot, Skid Row, and Skin Lab (just to name a few); the band is also ready to start headlining and making more money per show so that they will be able to produce their next few upcoming albums. With a shout out to Howard of 66 Crush Entertainment for all their hard work, the band reassures me that some deals are in the making and they are focused, confidently trudging forward, and quite certain that the world will still be theirs.
I for one am a believer; this is a damn good band with a great stage show, one hell of a front man, a bold lyricist and riff master, and a sexy, talented bass player… and well, yes, I guess a drummer too (I was given the okay by Shane and Eric to give you a hard time for not showing up, Woody). Look out world; Peace, Love, and Destruction are putting it all on the line, do not know how to quit, are backed by some of the most loyal fans in the business, and should probably all be condemned to straight jackets… but then again, so should probably the rest of us!
